very ugly scenes, really. kinda Cocoon-wannabe stuff, but it looks very 1996.
Unbearable soundtrack + Black/Evil design + Ugly guage scenes + Massive lack of optimization = Thumb down.

Disgusting visuals, bad and unsuitable music, it kept stuttering and it was boring. It made me feel nauseous. :P
Swaps like hell, gives the occasional black screen and the music keeps on skipping. And the little I saw didn't really look like anything else except your standard flyby..
yuck, that's.. not pretty. very slow also.. good effort though.
made the standard windows "your swap file just isnt big enough" dialog pop up. that sucks.

after some seconds of lazyness i decided to thumb it down, even if there is hard work behind.
- piark engine rocks. best 3d i've watched from many monthes. That's far away something maked by scratch.
- tawny and wodk gfx are great
-> i really enjoy the scene with the zombi on the chair (effect was really nice) and the smoke / raylight effects (between doom3 textures rocks :)
-> some lost framerate here, with many ie windows & irc opened, but that's normal for a demo.
Just a little regret, i wanted to watch a bit more character animations, but the nice scenes make it past.
-> No doubt, I think this one should have been ranked first. But french party votes suck, as usual.

To clearify. there was a 50% jury 50% people vote. I was asked to be in the jury, and as a demo producer myself define myself as a "very bad voter". But there may not be a better voter: Believing there is "a true ranking" infered mistically is wrong. They are not "better", they are "different" You could imagine a measure list to confront them and could rank first any of the seven entry.
Piark's engine "rocks", no doubt about that.
Another way to juge the entries could be:
KIKI: best 3D engine
SynRJ : best overall design
shiva: better original effect and better fun.
greuh(GBA): best software work.
and so on.

krabob : you are right but, considering all these things (engine, gfx, effects) plus the work involved, this demo was surely the best. Design isn't a grey background with glow... but yes i look the engine before a bit :) The name is "demonstration", that involves technical points, not design, i shut else "pure gfxers" will kill me, as usual.
Music sucks and it's just a fly-by.

Probably the best Kiki Prods demo to date content-wise. Still, it seems rather immature in many ways, much like every single other kp! production. Some of the bouncing sync, especially near the beginning, was rather irritating and tiresome. Much of the texturing was unappealing. The electricity was probably the demo highlight, even though it's simple looking.
