hmm.. my 9800pro should arrive in the mail next week :)
wooooooooooooooow!!!!!!!!!!!!! acojonanting intro!!!!!! I saw it at euskal party and it is really impressive!!!! RGBA RULEZ!!!!
It's uhm, well..
Damn, this looks sweet. My only gripe with this production is that the small fish next to the whale looked kinda stupid, the illusion worked well until you did a close shot of them. Also the deer had some stiff legs, but other than that i can only thumb this up. Awesome work guys.
Fuckin great scenes and all of this in 56.5 kb. Massive!!!
holy shit, I didn't know it was 64K until I saw the scroller at the end!
So wannabe it hurts :)
bad music, bad scenes (only thing that was "ok" was the iceberg and the ending scroller)

Oo; !!
Unreal
Unreal
I LIKE ANIMALS!
Keen =) a tad slow on my gffx5600 but surely a lot faster than your fingers so gently on my skin (omg, this almost sounds obscene).. It's 64k.. so no nitpicks from me.. hope you're having a great time at euskal
I don't doubt that this rocked the party place. It has some really impressive 3D (for a 64k) and the rudimentary animation is put to good effect (rhino ears & breathing, butterfly) but the music and camera are both benign and emotionless. Still, great effort, and a single frame of the silhouetted horse scene is worth a thumbs up. Bring the final!
no words... so good!
DivX please!
Ahh, i love godrays and caustics, gimme more!
rgba to the powah!!!
i had never been that impressed since the.product and poem to a horse =) so many awesome textures in only 56k that's total wizardry! the rhino scene and the night scene are absolutely gorgeous :))
now please oh please put a tobogganing pinguin in the iceberg scene ;)
now please oh please put a tobogganing pinguin in the iceberg scene ;)
best intro i have seen for a long time =)
Fucking great! The best 64k I can remember for so long :D
some parts are easy some parts are impressive
thumb up for the Bambi that walks like the robot from Kasparov ;) Impressive animals for 64k standards! :)
Oh my god! it can't be possible!!
Quote:
So wannabe it hurts :)
My thought exactly. But people probably aren't going to get what that means anyway..
Impressive!!! Best 64k this year!
i thought this was 64k, but it's 57 :)
A for effort, I guess. Lots of scenes, some nice models (I really liked the rhinos).
But somehow it didn't really work out, I think. The music didn't really fit, and putting a cheap glow-effect over everything didn't enhance the experience either imho.
The whole thing was also very slow.
Looking forward to the next intro.

ah, poor lamb..
You made it, guys! Congrats!
ouch!
wow, the kitsch factor was way up on this one - butterflies, horses, flowers, and even 100 extra bambi bonus points!
that aside, this is really very good. extra props for non-cheesy trees and grass.

how about a capture for us still "stuck" with a geforce4ti4600ultra?

visuals are impressive. colors are great, models and camera work are really good, too and some textures are also very nice. the whole thing has one weak spot, though. and for me that's the soundtrack. it simply sounds to synthetic and doesn't fit the mood of the scenes.
apart from that it's definately the best 64k of 2004 so far. let's see if the assembly releases can top this...

I don't really like the soundtrack, and the grass is too wavy :)
Cool foggy forest, though. Made the intro for me.

Damn impressive! Didn't like the music and some of camera motions though, but the rest is just amazing!
bambi needs a shave!
anyway, looks pretty nice.
anyway, looks pretty nice.
Well,. impressive but kinda boring.
Kitsch award of the year to this one, especially for the horse. The bambi made me wonder wether this was a promo for "deer hunter 2004 - kill'em all".
I liked the iceberg and the flower very much, but I think some scenes should have been left out (bambi, wale, rhinos ..). If you cant make things look good, dont do them. Of course, the music sucked and the intro was missing continuity.

There will be linux pinguins in the final release? Noooo, why have I thumbed this up already..
intro_init()!

crusader: i'd give that a no.
The intro... well, it definately rules, the scenes are mostly great, although there are some bad points (like the lumpy coral things in the first scene... pick better angles if you're using cardboard cutouts :) Also, does the deer have some kind of disability?? The horse + rhino scenes were great tho!
Music sounded good, but maybe a bit too cheap-synth sounding.
Overall, its looking very very good, but i'll need to watch a few more times to really judge it. I'll look forward to the final!

Very good work overall. However,
It reminds me of :
http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=9020
Bird of paradise by KStorm. The grass, animals.. the only thing missing is that hilarious sex scene.
Of course the quality of graphics in this intro, is exceptional. Very, very slow though... The scene with the trees at the end, and the credits, were the highlights of the show.

"incredible" doesn't even begin to describe this intro.
Massive! Impressive prod, the only one prod that shocked me at euskal04. C'mon guys, you have 8k more to shock the people again.
Respect!
Respect!
Excelent work! I think the best 64k of the year!
Great visuals. There is no doubt that there are a lot of models and textures in here for 64k. The performance is generally ok, but some scenes become extremely slow, as soon as antialiasing and anisotropic filtering is activated.
Not much to say about music and design. Both are ok.
Not much to say about music and design. Both are ok.
Impressive code (although slow like there's no tomorrow on my P4 3.0 + GF FX5600), and some great modelling for 64Kb... but the intro is in GREAT need of decent cameras, and some motion not to be boring... I'll save my thumb for when I watch it on something fast (r9800 or something like that).
Impressive, congrats rgba!
trace: die bastard! :P
Respects to rgba people!
Waiting for the final version! :)

love it! nice work rgba! that little "bambi" deer is quite cute... ;) but it surely looks like he/she have to poop.
Aah, I've got a GeForce Ti 4200 Go... which isn't powerful enough to run this intro or the Plastik demos.
love animals and blue forest
woooow !!!! this is indeed a very very beautiful intro. While watching I really forgot that it's below 64kb ... strange !!! And the optic is so smooth. Real atmosphere, foggy, shiny aso ... Impressive ... (although it didn't run smooth on my FX5900, Athlon XP2400) ... anyway ... simply fantastic !!!
again an intro where you can grab beautiful screenshots from... too bad it doesn't really look *that* good on screen.
points for being the most boring intro since assembly 2001 and for using conspiracy's synth (which sounds really bad) and music (which sucks, face it)...
where's the effects, where's the climax, where's the progression :-P
IT'S BORING!
usually I don't bother to comment like this even if something is overhyped :) just my 2 (euro)cents..
hey! i didn't thumb it down so...!

beautifull, impressive, but so slow...
rocks but slow
Hmm. I like the models, but the animation is a bit icky. The water could look better. The jellyfish is cool. Remember that 6/7 or 7/8 of an iceberg is always underwater...
The camera movements are mostly rather good, but the designers don't seem to know when to switch a scene, missed some really good opportunities. Music sounds rather crappy and softsynthish.
In general the intro is rather boring and lacks a good structure, but I have to appreciate the amount of stuff there. The end credits could be much shorter.

Easily can be the the best intro in 2004. The visuals are so wonderfull. But that music is hurts like hell. :/ I just turn off my amplifier and enjoy the show without it.
It's WAY too slow, somewhat buggy and kinda uneventful. The music could also use a few truckloads of variation and melody..
But on the other hand this is so damn pretty. Especially the whale and twilight forest scenes. And there's no b-grade poetry! What the hell, you can have my thumb :)

rgba world domination!!!
technically it's good 64k standard i would say. no super-impressive effect or something like that
BUT:
this model generator is teh r0xx0r!!! the scenes are beautiful, very vivid and perfectly set to generate a certain mood

i think that 'model generator' is called 3ds max ;)
sorry bp, your 4k was impressive as well, but not enough, improve the synth or so, or try to don´t do more jokes.. the sourprise fact.. you know :D
oops, my mistake.. I wasn't meaning that... obviously rgba's intro rocked the party and our 4k intro isn't at the same level, I know it, but as always you are despising the work of the other people. (I'm not talking about our work)
*wau*
people with sucking hardware want a divx :P
bp: despising?! wtf?! what i said?! just that was the only prod that shocked me at euskal?! am i saying that the rest was shit?! no! the rest ones was nice too, i like the productions, i respect the work of the people. But in that one i had to go to rgba section to say thanks for that!
Despising?! you have some moral problems dude!

Very nice.
gosh :)
the music and bambi are just so awful.
very nice texturing for a 64k though.

ehm
PS: kill that deer, please.
quite nice meshes, but the production itself is way too static and lifeless to work for me. ohwell, better luck next time.
Come on... why GFX only? My GF4ti4800 is still a good card!
Damn those Pixleshitters 2.0! I'll keep watching fr-08 till next year...

I'm not big fan of the music but, anyway, that's a very nice "57k".
big effort, some nice scenes, cool ideas here and then but soo BORING....
tricky animation, but bad msx, sorry conspiracy
--> pigface

scenes are very synthetic too..
a big work... but not used well... too BORING, too SLOW, we are going to hate casutics (we see that everywhere!!!)... the music is a pain (vangelis using a bomtempi)
Watched it on another machine...
Nice graphic show. So many different scenes are great for a 64k but music and camera are the problems... it's amazing to watch, but nothing really happens.
Try to kidnap aMUSIC or kb!

YES! this is 64KB! Congrats to the whole team, and specially to iq, who is one of my coding superstars :*
@r3d: thanks, but PLEASE put your stuff on scene.org. Your link is NOT working :(
works for me here. !
Yes. It works here :?
the link works fine (fast server too :) but putting stuff on scene.org is always a good idea anyway.
but the intro.. very very pretty, but unfortunately a bit dull as well. the music could with ease have been much better too.

Wheee! This is visually very nice! Too bad it's rather slow (And I don't mean slowdowns, I saw the DivX ;). But nice music and great models. woo
Hmm watched the video and I must say that it is absolutely beautiful. It is a shame the music isn't so good and it also doesn't even fit the visuals in my opinion. Maybe the final version will fix it and this is a good nominee for the best intro of 2004.
This one reminds me a lot of the recent plastic demo. It's equallly ambitious, yet flawed in the same manner. The 'bambi' scene was awkwardly animated, the static 'horse scene' is as subtle as a sledge hammer. Texturing was great, music was ok for me, the jellyfish scene was sweet, best trees in a 64k also.
If you can reduce the level of dullness and kitsch in a final version, it would be indeed the best intro of 2004 so far. :)

liked the work thats put in to it, but as said before, not used well enough, i'm not kind of the music either, didn't work for me.
And please make a final, some scenes is like 10fps with 9800pro, 2.6ghz p4 and 512mb

I can't thumb this is any other direction then up. Really impressive. The only thing I didn't like was the music.
A bit on the kitschy side, still technically more than astonishing! The only (and I mean it!) drawback is the damn ugly music!!
Impresive, Perfect.. :D

thx rasmus... downloading...
I liked the rhinos and the whale. I don't dig the music. Too little action for adhd kids like me. Nice work though!
Paradise on top 10 now!!
visually absolutely stunning! too bad the music doesn't get anywhere close to the quality of the graphics... still, one of the best 64k intros released this year.
great !!! really nice ... but imho it would have been better without for example that trees...
That's great!
How about Hell next?

wow!
Fucking great!!! It's only a 64k and the nature feeling is cool!!! It is one of the best 64k i've ever seen.Great work guys
Ok - first of all - I fell very good that someone is also using opengl 1.5 and also takes this whole "my card is not enough" shit on their chests. So already a thumb up from me. But it's definitely too slow for what I see. For What the hell are You using so much CPU? The visuals could be better. I know that there was no time but You could release it on Assembly with less visual bugs. The only scene I like is a Rhino Scene. Rest of them looks a little too empty. The small fish (in the whale scene) algorithms are lame. You could Use some boid simulation. But All in all there some much work. And of course Catmull subdivs rulez!
nice gfx, but the animations suck... i've never seen life so lifeless before. esp. that poor crippled bambi dying all alone. and the coral reef...
but the gfx are quite good, esp. for a 64k, so a piggy.
but the gfx are quite good, esp. for a 64k, so a piggy.
it was very annoying the way the animal moved and the plastic coral reef. Besides from that I loved the forrest.
Very good works, some impressive scenes :D, but i think that the soundtrack isn't enough good for this great 64k
Waiting for final version o/
Waiting for final version o/
Oh, shit! Unbelievable!!! ROCKZZZZZZZZZ
some bugs remind me that it's just an intro.
I'm blown off.
very impressive
music (or sound... you decide hehe) doesn't match intro quality at all

iq, the gran master. He did it again. 64k?.. well, respect;)
Heres the thumb for those rhinos. Bloddy hell... That reminds me.. I also want hell in 64k with a nasty piece of dark soundtrack to go with it.
-So-So music
-Pretty good scenes in 64k
-Neat mouth-watering textures
-One of the better caustic effects
-Some pretty funny animations (read: bambi =) )
-Some great modelling in 64k (Rhinos and whale ruled)
-Pretty good trees and grass, better than most alpha stenciled garbage out there found in scene prods =P
Damn impressive overall content, with some great looking scenes. Its going to be hard topping this one now =)

BURN BAMBY BURN!!!
just watched that newer version, and it is indeed faster. Didn't notice any parts that were obviously slow, and i'm on nvidia hardware.
A few things to consider tho: the animation on the rhino breathing suffers the same problem as the bambi, with the robot motion. Instead of that 'move it at fixed speed, then stop for a bit' cycle, how about using a sin wave to regulate the motion? That should look natural enough with little extra work.
Oh yes, and an extra thumb up for including an ass on the rhino ;D

psonice, your link is not the 54.5 version. Just use the pouet link or www.rgba.org
Total frikking 0wnage.
I remember when i heard.... "imagine they move the animals" close to me, while watching the prod, and the animals began to move :D
fucking awesome is descriptive enough :)~

Amazing, though some animations looked a bit yerky
IQ kicking some ass again...
very sweet!!
with no doubt, best 64k intro of the year.
and maybe this statement will still be true in some time to come. anyone has anything better to offer?
anyway, great work by rgba, and best wishes for future. we like things like this.

Awfully slow fps. Guess I'll have to wait for the final.

No copy? ;) Still earns plenty of respect for putting it in 64k and running in realtime of course! Thanks to Trace for pointing that one out :D
bah...

:P
Finally downloaded the video :)
This was amazing at the partyplace, probably the most special moment at ep12. Those rhinos were breathtaking!
Looking forward to see the final version though, since there's some "uh, deadline is near" feeling in some parts. This can be perfect with some more time put into it.
Great work guys, this is really something to be proud of!

I still dont have the required hardware therefore I resigned myself to the divx:
bad music & boring scenes (almost 8 min...) but amazing visuals for a 64k and obviously a lot of work involved. Nice work.

trace: I can`t see anything wrong in your screenshot. It is pretty common for norwegians to kill seals on icebergs, so if it`s bloody then don`t blame the drivers, but blame the norwegians.
WOW! Once again I am impressed by a 64k. My only point of criticism is the face of the fawn - not much within 8 minutes of DEMOnstration. You rule.
Beautiful, even if a bit cliched. Though I admit, somehow I think Paradise is Coming is better.. :)
Just looking to see if there's a final yet... No :(
Pretty, boring and slow.
procedural code that made nature. And a thought: it's always far more difficult to do realistic than abstract .
=)
some of the stuff looks pretty good. on the other hand the music sucks and its boring.
Quite hefty requirements, but the result is nice. Texture colors screwed up for me on the landscape parts.
AWESOME, technically is impresive, too much hardware req. for this to run, but a must see.
Really impressive. Maybe it lacks some details to be absolutely perfect but... what the heck? All that is in 64kb!!!
good work !! :D
sorry.. not even close...
very impressive :-)
So uh, where's the final? :)
nice visuals
hmm, i never thumbed this up? let's take care of that. anyone thumbing it down is a jealous scener from another platform. :)
Awesome!
trace: that happens to me too (on allinwonder 9600xt), but only when multisampled i think.
either this is not very fast code, or my compy is just slow (1.2GHz).
either this is not very fast code, or my compy is just slow (1.2GHz).
Looks pretty damn sweet, but way too boring and the music is waaayy too cheesy. Still thumbs up for being only 64k.
Good visuals, a bit cheesy sometimes, but surely looks very good.
This is great. The balancing of graphicsdetails is very clever chosen & the sound fits perfectly to the scenes.
Things like this in a 64k really impress me, even if other people thinks it's to slow/dull/statical. Great visuals, love it! :D
55 kb and so much complex content -- me like! Best parts are the whale, the hippos, and the horse in the blueish light.
Don't like the jerky framerate or the unatural movement of the deer.
All in all, a big thumbs up!

woow! Beautiful!
great one!
all scene perfect!!
Wonderful, and effect of light and shadow.
And, It was also good to use the fur for the deer.
and very good music!
Only one point, It was sorry that the motion of deer's body did not operate.
Anyway, excelent works!!

uuh, never thumbed this one up! just love the rhino and the endscroller. excellent eye for detail, rbga took cheese to the next level. excellent tune for a two day on-request job, too.
one of the few very boring camera flyby demos/intros that i keep enjoying to the fullest. thanks guys.

It is technically good, but i do not like the music and all in all its nothing i would watch a second time.
amazing
Amazing! Great show, some movement problems in the animation. But that's like almost impossible, even for ILM.
Overall nice intro, but the music doesn't fit at all imo... (Even without mentioning the whale modulating sound which makes me laugh)
Great work.
wow! extremely ambitious content for 64k and it looked great!
Holy shit! One of the most impressive 64ks I've ever seen! Massive respects!
Amazing visuals here but it's so damn boring that I almost felt asleep while watching. :( Could have been a killer if it wasn't so boring but it's still a nice intro!
Wow!
how you did it? :)
Top hardware needed.. anyway.. usual rgba style.. too much blur :P
Awesome but a bit unfinished. A real final version can become a classic ;)
Truly superb work of art.
Especially with Rhino's ass \o/
beautiful
Very nice indeed. Weird, but quite ok, music with sucky bassdrum. Lots of nice scenes.
very very good
impressive!
wunderschoen :)
pretty nice 64 kilobytes.

i upgraded my machine: p4 3ghz radeon x800 pro.
but its still giving me 4fps on a couple scenes (bambi and rhino) .. and the synth clicks/stutters abit now and again... such a shame that this aint polished up to work properly on standard machines..

Beautiful.
Some lovely scenes inside, but something's missing.
Maybe a little bit too long and slow paced.

it's pretty boring/too long, but this is one of those 64ks that gets away with just amazing me with the sheer amount of content that's squeezed in.

Simply amazing.
a little bit too slow for me but thumb up for the awesome amount of work and data you succeed to put into that tiny 64kb :)
Lots of content for a 64k. The music is soso.

Still awesome.
It was stunning back in 2004, and still great.
really serious stuff!
One of the most impressive 64k intros in terms of amount of work. The models still look good!
It's a bit too slow, but it's one of my favorites.

Forgotton thumb.
Bambi....♡
I appreciate the detail put into some of the rendering to mimic physical properties. There are obvious shortcomings of course, but those mostly arise from the technical limitations of the hardware at the time.
Of course an old time classic.
Even up to this day, this 64k is still impressive for the amount of content. Nice scenes too. And looks like, I've never thumb this up before ;)
