Hmm, well.
First part definitely had a nice atmosphere. Then again, too much of that can be contributed to the Converter track for me to be overtly generous with props.
Change of parts way too intrusive and disruptive.
Second part features a very good (and, to my ears, also rather Converter-influenced) soundtrack by Dominator. The music has more drive than in the first part, but sadly the visuals do little more to match the shift than flash a bit. The slow zoom still remains a too dominant element.
In the end the whole thing has a certain atmosphere to it, and doesn't exactly suck, but isn't all that brilliant either and certainly far from the breathtaking massiveness of Hwr2 and D796.

I like it. Second part is energetic.
This demo feels subtly different every time I see it, especially the first part; the second part stabilizes it a little with the raw aggressive energy of the soundtrack (excellent job there imo), but it's still far from pop-in-and-watch-anytime kind of stuff. Definitely requires a particular mood and setting to get the most out of it. And it's massive when you do!
The first part is like a slow drive into the core, letting you slowly familiarize yourself with the mothlike kaleidoscopic world it presents you.
The second part is when it puts you into the heart of this construct, as the biomechanical constructs of this world are threading through you as you thread through them.
It's very intense and eerily beautiful. Definitely a demo worth seeing.

we have released a new version of kolonija, dubbed kolonija 2021, recreated for the fans, and upgraded with higher resolution source images.
since old version used 128x128px gfx, in order to fit into 2003 GPUs memory, there has been some time since i had the idea for upgrade, so here it is.
this version is using 512x512px gfx, converted from the source images which are ~1000px.
since demo displays at fixed resolution of 640x480, using larger resolution images than 512px is unnecessary, at least until we change the executable code to open in higher resolution.
another argument for sticking with 512px images is because demo system is quite non-optimized, and loads everything in GPU RAM before starting. so, 512px images are using ~1GB of GPU RAM (part1 uses ~0.5GB, part2 uses ~1GB), so it will work even on GPUs with 2GB RAM, unlike 1024px images which break the 2GB limit.
i have successfully tested and captured 512px version on windows 10 with AMD Radeon RX460 2GB GPU, although i had problems displaying anything on another windows 10 machine, with much stronger NVIDIA 1660Ti 16GB RAM, so compatibility is still a problem, and you might also have all sorts of timing issues, but here it is anyway - it might just work fine for you 🙂
