britelite: Go code something like that chess wobbler, make it run in full framerate and then come back and tell me it's mediocre.

That particular fx was nice indeed, but the demo as a whole was an unsatisfying experience.

Nice little chessboard demo.

Very nice chessboard effects! The chesswobller is the best I have ever seen in C64!!!

p.s. Uhm,. I got my first fuckings. You will pay for that!!! =)

feel free to send us fuckings aswell. ofcourse that would mean you would have to do a demo yourself..
added on the 2004-01-08 12:14:56 by hollowman hollowman
That's what I thought too. But umgh,.. I wish the motives to do a demo weren't so wicked :P
added on the 2004-01-08 17:39:09 by Optimus Optimus
you wish you COULD do a demo on the first place...

While I find the motives to start making (if I ever) my first demo on C64 wicked, somehow it is tempting. The scene was moving on these motives, from one point of view, except if I was the sucker who was hardly doing it for fun. You don't let me go this way..
added on the 2004-01-08 18:10:49 by Optimus Optimus
But I have already prooved that I can do a demo. So what?

Optimus:
You have? I thought you only have proved to learn how to post messages on webpages, but very long such :)
added on the 2004-01-08 18:26:33 by Hatikvah Hatikvah
he did, but that was already a year ago.

Perhaps I will just quit (gameover) the scene after our demo at ReAct2004, if it will ever make it. Why should I make demos to proove to people that I am active or not a lamer? I wish I could do it because I like it..
added on the 2004-01-08 18:48:40 by Optimus Optimus
the design of this demo simply rules.

puterman: go check the chessboard in soiled legacy... ;) laced dither means 4 times as much gfx.. and it moves more natural too.

the code imho is not that hardcore, but it doesnt counts, as the demo as a whole works very nicely.
rulez added on the 2004-01-09 10:18:21 by Oswald Oswald
puterman: I actually did expect a bit more mature answer from you than "GO CODE A BETTER ONE YOURSELF LAMER!!!!". I guess I have to code every single effect ever made before I'm allowed to judge a demo.
I still think it's mediocre (and that's NOT saying it's bad in any way) because I've seen better ones before.

optimus, would you quitting mean that you will stop with your selfobsessed babbling on pouet also? your vacation from here only lasted a week, and during that week you hanged out at csdb instead, so it wasnt much of a break for me. that you made a demo a year ago doesnt nearly make up for all the threads you started, and all the discussions you interrupted to change the subject to be about yourself. have you ever considered what pouet would look like if all people demanded as much space and attention as you?

britelite, "i've seen better ones before", i think that could be said about any demo. so i guess all demos are mediocre. will have to add that to every comment in the future..
added on the 2004-01-09 12:17:46 by hollowman hollowman
hollowman: yes, please do act like a kid.

I can still find effects impressive even if someone has made better ones, but this demo didn't impress me.

Sorry for not thinking every FLT-release is the best demo ever...

britelite, oh, so i'm childish? well, your mother didnt think so!!!!11
added on the 2004-01-10 20:41:06 by hollowman hollowman
Britelite, mediocre as it may be, I don't remember seeing any interleaved FLI-chessboards before. Then again, I don't download and watch everything that is released, so it might have slipped right past me. Just like it might have slipped right past everyone that the little picture in the end is 48 chars wide. What is mediocre is that we don't see things like that more often.

The music! Its teh shit! And the fuckings are funny too :)

oh, and the hollowman-3d(tm) stuff is pretty neat too (it was you who made it right?)

Ive started to code some C64 now ;) (on a emulator :D and I made a unstable rastereffect.. well sort of.. uhm.. I use SEI to get it less unstable than it was first.. riight..)

oswald: Yes, I'm well aware that you're doing much more work in your chessboard part, which is why it doesn't run in full framerate and therefore I think mine looks better.

puterman:I could start an endless argue on this, but I rather not :) keep coding stuff like this, I liked it. period :)

Music is the shit indeed!
Demo itself is a bit boring.

A whole lot of discussion here, but isn't it just a pretty good demo? And there's a lot more than just a chessboard in it...
