The video was ok, but the idea was just great. To bad, it wasn't shown hourly like the bünzli-orgas wanted it.

Of course you should already know the current 'original' pro7 (big german tv-station) marketing campaign... ;-)

Otherwise you'll probably just think about that one as a 'normal mini-invitation-spot'...which isn't the case here! ;-)

...ah! And before I forget: Nearly everything was re-worked _manually_ here! There was no music-ripping from the original 17sec. tv-spot for example - as it wasn't available in good quality! So it was completely re-build and cut from the full 3:30 min. music-track version!!) etc.etc...

Not funny, not impressing, not creative (cheap copy of the pro7 trailer)..., showed way too often (thanks orgas for not showing it hourly).

On a side note: I've seen quite a few people at TUM who decided they won't even consider visiting buenzli now, due to all the spam regarding the party. Besides this annoying trailer, the whole party place was taped with buenzli-ads, and they even put up a spam bot to annoy people on the party irc.

As soon as sceners are informed that a party exists, there is no reason to repeat this information over and over again. Yes, it might work that I want Coca-Cola if I see a Coca-Cola sign 5000 times a day. I highly doubt this works for a scene party. It definately didn't work for me, as I am now getting myself a Coke and don't have any plans to visit Buenzli....

Hey Scamp, I think you have an inferiority complex or something similiar. Let me please explain you, that an intensive marketing indeed helps to attract people to party rather than reject them from the idea of showing up.

Equally, if there's something that may actually piss people off is your moaning and grumbling. Do it your own way if you don't like it, but just don't judge on everybody around without having anything consistent to say. And it is not the first time you've been doing this. No offence.

And c'mon, just don't bullshit that they are people who won't visit Buenzli just because they didn't like the promotion.

To tell you the truth, it is not even a decent excuse for the lamers who come to party to spend it in front of a computer talking on IRC. C'mon, who the fuck comes to the party to chat on irc? You can do it at home. The party is meant to get people in REAL touch, to share the scene mood, etc. And if you still decided to spend your time in front of a computer screen, well, don't bullshit about disturbing bots. Perhaps we should consider bringing irc-deciated computer to BP04 and make it repeat "turn off your computer, join the REAL party outside the hall" message on irc every 15 minutes?

All I want you to understand, that the major principle behind the demoscene is the diversity. I don't like something, you don't like something. I party one way, you party yet another one. There's place for me, and place for you. But why the hell pick on things like that? Advertising is good and we (MWI, Symphony Orgaz) do quite the same, even FAR MORE INTENSIVELY. And yes, it worked last year. For the first time ever, polish party was visited by foreign guests from many countries.

Btw. Scamp, I don't think anybody gives a fuck whether you come :) I am sure you'll spend this time way more interesting making new friendships on ircnet :P

i thought it was rather funny that the buenzli organizers had put so much effort in their desperate marketing campaign. at least they weren't handing out brochures during the prize giving ceremony to everyone who won something, like flemming (scene-event) did at assembly'03 =)

bünzli's marketing campaign is exactly now a demoparty marketing strategy should be, and i see nothing annoying or exaggerated in it.

Even while getting flamed to the ground I still don't see how this is funny, a mockery or a satire... I still think it's boring and non-creative to simply copy an already boring tv trailer.

And while nobody has to believe me, indeed a few people including tum organizers found the trailer rather annoying. Oh well, who cares.

flapjack: On the one hand you are talking about "diversity" and how everyone should be free to do what he wants to do etc, but on the other hand you suggest terrorizing people that use the party irc network. Sounds inconsistent to me.
FWIW I liked the MAWI paper ads at bp.

Anyway, I agree this is a non-issue and there are more interesting things to worry about. The trailer still sucks though :)

hey scamp, you should relax a bit, because I believe nobody should ever take a pole declaring setting up a dedicated irc-bot at demoparty serious. dude, that was just ironic :) we're not even bringing a damn laptop, because we don't need it.

oh yeah that bot thing again, i just called robocop and it was him doing it manually. okay, his name suggests that he's a bot, but he's rather a true human. (and my naming in that adress unlock@blabla probably comes from the fact that i installed the irc client on robocop's machine).. oh and i also feel terrorized a lot by those people hanging around at parties irciing all the time :)

at state of the art there will (hopefully, like last year) be a very nice BOXING RING! So far the following fights have been planned:

1) kaneel/bypass vs all french sceners who think his music sucks (must see, a 300 vs 1 fight)
2) scamp vs unlock as the official switzerland is better than germany fight! (extra bonus, they're both equally high, equally fat, both smokers so crappy condition! guaranteed to be an exhaution match!)
