Cool demopop soundtrack and some nifty visuals. It actually reminds me of Second Reality thanks to some parts in the music and the fact that it's very long (10 minutes) and the credits take too much of that time. The biggest problems are probably the duration and the fact that there's no real "flow".

should have been realtime, and imo it doesn't do DESERT DREAM justice

How can I run this? I always had problems to watch videos. I have the players, download some latest (Media Player, Real Player) but still it doesn't display anything but plays only music. Ugh.. and the download of the video was big ;P

Try a codec called FFDshow, it doesn't work with ordinary DivX (at least that was the case with me). You may need to uninstall the DivX codec after that.

pretty boring, and not even half as good as desert dream

laxitys original music from 1993 sounded better than the "digitally remastered" version by andy in 2003. how sad.
for great justice...

It felt so long, so useless, and a honourless attempt at gaining cheap votes.

I know some people will consider all these conversions as ways to get popularity, but hey it is much better watch than the silly Real Life Second Reality (and there are 2 of them!) wilds, however I don't like that it isn't the same as Desert Dreams after the Pyramid part, but the beginning remake was cool anyways!

The one thing that really lets it down is the lack of synchronisation, which was a very important factor in the original.

But I thought it was quite a nice try anyway and there were some nice fullscreen pics too.

It's actually shorter than the original, but it's less interesting. I was hoping they would simply have updated the effects and music, but they redid the tune, and after the 4 (!) minute near-perfect adaptation of the first part, they went way off in terms of effects and music.
The DivX of the Amiga version is better. Sorry.

funny idea, it respect the original scenes but not allways idea
but why not do this remix in realtime ?
This one was done for some newschool-dudies, because a lot of the current sceners haven't even seen Desert Dreams. This one was done to make them have a look at the original one. Nothing more, nothing less!

The original tune is a million times better imho. Really doesn't do the original demo much justice =)

Fick mich in den Arsch und gib mir Tiernamen!
Like Second Reality and Real Reality / Zecond Re@lity the remake cannot beat the original, but seeing it as a tribute it is very good. :)

call this a tribute?

The original can never been beaten. But it's a nice tribute.

embarassment is way to uexplored in traditional and modern art, but the demoscene prevails when it comes to invoking that certain feeling. Maybe a few matrix and booze references could make this even more pathetic though. Looking forward to someone topping this unique exploration of embarassment :)

Original was better (especially the music). Anyway, let's say it's okay...

I thumb this down because you released it before it was unfinished.
I like some of your ideas of how to do the "effect" part of the demo. But just making a few of the effects and joining them randomly together is just disrespectful.

I see it like this: This wild is neither made to be the original, nor to beat or replace it. Its a way of honouring it. And it features great 2D art from Raven!

no idea why this has such a bad reputation, apart from the fact it mixes original and remade parts.
Soundtrack seems mostly "downmastered", but otherwise I think this is kinda cool.
Pretty much have to share crest's opinion.

Works just as good as any covers of Falco's "Jeanny"... Some things should be left alone! Piggie because apparently a lot of work went into this.
