Is BeOS still alive?

No.

Be, the company is dead, but there's an european company still selling the last BeOs version, called Yellowtab.

As for myself, since low-latency patches and journalling filesystems came to the linux kernel, I only saw disadvantages in using BeOs against it.

There's also the soon-to-be-renamed Openbeos project at www.openbeos.org. They've been at it two years, and have made progress in duplicating BeOS R5 in an open-source way

So what if they use BeOS or not? It's still a production right? lol
Alternative OS rules! BeOS seemed interesting and I don't prefer to have only 2 groups, Windows crusaders and Linux fanatics in the game. I wish I had the time to check some of the more alternative OSes. But I haven't even spared some time to check Linux, even if anyone is babbling about it..

It would be nice if there'd be a linux/windows port or a movie though

Only some starfield and rotating objects. Not really cool, but at least one of the few BeOS prods out there.

Piggy for this one.
No screenshot since I didn't manage to take one

Anyway, just wanted to let you know this now runs fine under Haiku (formerly OpenBeOS) :).
