- Anyone got any rules of thumb for when doppler effects are noticeable in games? Should I bother using doppler effects on distant objects if I am strapped for performance?

- It depends on the application you are writing, but I've found Unity3D to be a good and performant true crossplatform toolkit for mobile development. It is definitely not the right choice for stuff that requires your app to run in the background (but you can code yourself out of that), and pixel perf
- and pixel perfect layouting on multiple resolutions is kind of a bitch (but Unity2D looks like it will give a better workflow at least).
